Social media marketing
Use social media to improve your business marketing strategy

It is not always “what you know” but “who you know”. Creating a social media for your business marketing strategy is very easy. If most people can create a user profile on the most popular social media pages, then so can you. Creating profiles on social media is faster and cheaper than creating your very own web page.
Don’t be fooled, social marketing is a great way to find out what your customers are looking for and are interested in. You do not need to use social media as a “sell and tell” tool. Using social media is similar to having a conversation. If you are talking more than listening, it won’t be long before the other party walks away. As my wife suggests, I have two ears and one mouth and that i should use them in that proportion.
Set up an account with twitter to get connected with your customers. You can connect with friends and other people that have similar interests with a very useful search tool. You can follow the other person’s conversation and join in whenever you have something interesting to add. Take advantage of people asking for something, if you have anything that may be useful for free then this will help build your relationship. You can add 140 character tweets; albeit this does not sound a lot you can links to your videos, products, articles etc.
Pictures can paint a thousand words, or so they say. So what about the power of videos. Why not create an account with YouTube and tell the world all
about you, your products and services? You can create videos and embed them into your web site. If you use facebook, twitter and linkedin then why not share your great videos with your friends / contacts. Please use this option wisely, your videos need to be informative, useful and not war and peace. The attention span of most people is very short so edit your video to be approximately 2 to 5 minutes.
I am sure that at least one of your friends / family will be using facebook or Google Plus to stay connected. You can too. More importantly you do not have to bore your friends about your products and services but you can create a fan page and a landing page for your company. You can also create a front page that looks identical to your very own web page. You can create messages, polls and links to your youtube videos.
.
You can also create a professional network profile on linkedin; this forum is a little more formal than the above but can help you create a professional resume especially if you are looking for additional work. Come and join our network. Using LinkedIn tells you when your contacts move jobs or when they have been recommended. Using LinkedIn is also a good way to ensure that contact details are up to date.
Once you have created a profile on one or more of the above forums it can be difficult to remember all of your usernames and passwords. To make life easier you can use Hootsuite to manage all of your social media profiles and send messages through one or more of your social media profiles at the same time.
You can even advertise your business activities through each one of these social media pages to help you boost your profile. Make sure that you choose the right advertising campaign.
I hope that this has given you a good initiation to social media marketing. Now stop reading and the best way to learn is to give it a try. I wish you the very best of luck.
